I'd like to introduce you to another little side project of mine, tinyg.us ("Tiny Gus").
tinyg.us is a quick way of linking to places on the internet, using the power of Google's I'm Feeling Lucky feature. If someone is asking you about "All your base are belong to us," you would probably fire up Google, search for ["All your base"], click on the first result, copy the resulting url, and then paste it into your message. That's too much work. Now, you can just type tinyg.us/all.your.base into your im/e-mail and fire it away. When your friend clicks the link, they'll automatically be directed to the first Google result for ["All your base"]. It's as easy as pie.

Cool! This reminds my of Ryan Jazayeri's MEng thesis: Google as a Bookmarking Tool. Ryan built a tool that would take the web site you were at and would try to come up with a word or phrase that would bring up that site as the first result in Google. That way, you could just tell your friends to type it into Google and hit I'm Feeling Lucky, the argument being that it was more memorable than a traditional URL. Indeed, such a word or phrase was called a "Google URL," which was a phrase coined on Joho the Blog in 2001.
