Today's issues...

As a lot of you are probably seeing, PartyChat has been very flakey today. I'm still trying to figure out what's happening, so if any of you are smack experts, I could appreciate the help.

The previously running process starts reporting:
[java] Found invalid presence mode
Upon restarting, it outputs:

and on a few occasions:

While getting these errors, I was able to log partychat@ in to Google Talk via GMail Chat. Running PartyChat on other machines has a little more success, but not really -- half the accounts still die, but a few are able to connect.

Before I chalk this up to some sort of weird rate-limiting issue, I'm hoping someone can give me a more plausible explanation of what be happening. Any ideas?

  1. If you haven't change anything on the code, it could be a firewall or a anti-virus bloking the connections on your system. If haven't change anything at your system at all, I would say that google is dropping some connections or having connections problem.

I could try to run the code at home and see if I have the same problems.

I hope to see a "and we're back!" soon. :)

    regards,

  2. Where are these bots hosted? i.e. where are the servers?

    It's very cool!

    Thanks!

  3. ricardo: I didn't change anything -- i think it must have been the google system hating on partychat. Now partychat@ is the only account that seems to be having the most issues, which makes sense since it has the most subscribers/traffic.

def: these bots are hosted on a old server in my apartment. I'm moving it somewhere more reliable soon-ish, maybe.
